How fast can you reach my part of the Big Island?

It depends on your district and the hour. Hawaii Island is larger than all the other islands combined. Hilo to Kona is a two-hour drive, and Kau or Ocean View adds more on either end. We dispatch the closest available technician and give you a realistic arrival window for your actual address, not a generic promise. All Aloha Plumbing covers the whole island: Hilo, Puna, Volcano, Hamakua, Waimea, Kohala, Kau, and the Kona side. Give us your nearest mile marker or cross street, since GPS often drops pins in the wrong place on many rural roads.

What should I do while I wait for the plumber?

Stop the water. For one fixture, close the angle stop behind or beneath it. On county water, shut the main on the house side of the meter. On catchment, turn off the pump breaker first; a pump running dry or against a leak burns up in minutes. Then photograph the damage before you clean up.

My catchment pump failed, and I have no water. Is that an emergency?

Yes. On catchment, there is no backup, no water for drinking, flushing, or fire. We service pumps, pressure tanks, pressure switches, foot valves, and supply lines throughout Puna, Volcano, Hamakua, Kau, upper Kona, and Ocean View, and we stock the parts that fail most often, so most of these calls finish on the first visit. If pressure dropped gradually rather than all at once, check your sediment filters and tank level first. That is often the whole problem, and it is a fix you can do yourself.

Why do I keep getting pinhole leaks in my copper pipes?

Because catchment water is naturally acidic, and vog on the Kau, Kona, and Volcano sides makes it worse. It dissolves copper from the inside out, which is also what causes the blue-green staining in your sinks and tubs. Patching one pinhole rarely ends it. When a system starts going, more leaks usually follow. The real fix is treating the water with a neutralizer and repiping in PEX where the copper is already too far gone.
