What Counts as a Plumbing Emergency

  • Overflowing toilets that will not stop after the flapper closes.

What to Do Before the Plumber Arrives

A few minutes of action can limit the damage. Turn off the main water valve if you can reach it safely. If the leak is at the water heater, shut off its cold water supply and turn off the power or gas to the unit. Stop running water in the house if drains are backing up, since every flush or rinse adds to the overflow. Move rugs, electronics and stored items away from the water.

If you smell gas, do not flip switches or use anything that could spark. Get everyone outside first, then call from a safe distance.

Leave the building right away and bring everyone with you. Do not turn lights on or off, use appliances, or do anything that could create a spark. Once you are a safe distance away, call your gas utility and then call us. Our licensed plumbers can locate the leak and repair the gas line once the area is safe to work in.
