Do you replace sewer lines on Oahu, Maui and the Big Island?

How do you decide between sewer line repair and replacement?

We decide based on a camera inspection. A single crack or one bad joint can often be repaired. A line that is collapsed, bellied, badly corroded or full of roots along its length usually needs to be replaced. We show you what the camera found and give you upfront pricing for the option that fits.

Who is responsible for the sewer lateral on my property?

In most cases, the property owner is responsible for the lateral from the building to the property line, and the public system is responsible beyond it. Rules can differ by county, so we confirm where your portion ends before we price the job. That way you only replace the section that belongs to you.

Is trenchless sewer replacement available in Hawaii?

It can be, depending on the line’s condition, depth, material and layout. Trenchless methods reduce digging through lawns, driveways and landscaping. Some lines are too damaged or have too many bends for trenchless work, and traditional excavation is the better choice. We recommend the least invasive method that will give you a lasting result.

Does the 2050 cesspool rule affect my sewer line?

It may. Hawaii law requires cesspools to be upgraded, converted or closed by 2050. If your property drains to a cesspool, which is more common on the Big Island and in rural Maui, it makes sense to plan any new line with that future change in mind. Can I use my plumbing while the sewer line is replaced?
